A Labor Day weekend tradition dating back to the late 1800s, this “down to earth” country fair draws in crowds of locals and visitors from afar. Running Thursday, August 29 to Monday, September 2, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The Blue Hill Fair features daily specials and events. Thursday, August 29 is Dollar Day! Admission is only $1.00 and all mechanical rides are $1.00. Friday, August 30 honor senior citizens. Seniors aged 62 and up pay just $3.00 for admission. Saturday, August 31 features special guests Hotel California, an Eagles tribute band. Sunday, September 1 is the annual mammoth fireworks show and Monday, September 2 hosts the much anticipated demolition derby and wristband day where for the purchase of a $20.00 you can ride an unlimited amount of rides.
Other draw ins include animal exhibits, horse pulls, midway games, arts and crafts exhibits, prized vegetables, and don’t forget THE FOOD! Local vendors and fair vendors come out offering crab rolls, famed Lime Fizz, french fries, pizza, dough boys, sausages, cotton candy, candy apples, lemonade, (is your mouth watering yet??) and more!
Be sure to dress appropriately! Days are warm (even hot) and nights are cool. Be sure to bring a coat or long sleeves for after sundown. You can always return to your vehicle at anytime and come back into the fair (be sure to get a stamp at the gate). The fair grounds are unpaved so you will want to keep this in mind when choosing footwear.
The fair grounds offers free parking or for a nominal fee, you can park at one of the surrounding private properties that open up for parking. We suggest parking at The Ark Thrift Shop where all proceeds bennefit The Ark Animal Shelter.
Check the fair’s daily schedule for a complete list of activities and events. Admission for children under 12 is always free! The Blue Hill Fair is located at 223 Ellsworth Rd Blue Hill. Many of our rentals are within an easy drive so be sure to plan your stay around this traditional event!
