A lovely, East Coast shingled cottage is tucked in private woods and meadow on 7+ acres. The cottage was featured in House Beautiful and is light-filled with large windows and superb carpentry work for anchoring. Landscaped with nature in mind, this coastal gem with balcony and patio overlooks picturesque Center Harbor with spectacular views to Deer Isle and the sailing lanes of Eggemoggin Reach. The master bedroom is at tree top level and invites osprey, gulls and the moon for attractions.
A short path leads to steps that go to the 650 feet of pebbly beach shore, perfect for swimming in the quiet cove 2 hours each side of low tide. Kayaks can be launched at the shore or close by at the boat yard.
Although the house and land have a lot of privacy, the local town is within easy walking distance. Brooklin is known as the wooden boat building center of Maine and is the location of The Wooden Boat Magazine school, boat building shops, an excellent library, general store and a variety of boutiques, massage spa, coffee shop and weekly farmers market. Within an easy drive is the Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park area. Or one may want to visit Stonington, the alleged lobster capital of Maine, to take boat rides to outer islands and observe the art of lobstering. This coastal area is “authentic” Maine.
This property also hosts winter rentals October through June. Contact our office for more information!
