What a perfect little spot!! We were quite excited when we drove down the LONG driveway and eventually it opened up into this private spot with a gorgeous view!! Super private, great place for dogs and ocean access was fantastic!! We dug clams right out front, only a small portion of the beach was muddy, most of it was nice and hard (so you dont have to worry about the dogs getting all dirty before going back to camp!) Beautiful sunsets and nice back roads for walking the dogs. The cottage is cozy, comfortable and has everything you need (except DVDs). The bed was really small BUT unbelievably comfortable! We have a king size bed at home so I was pretty nervous about how much sleep I would get, if any, but I was pleasantly surprised! Another tip, if you plan on using the fireplace have some firewood delivered! We spent a small fortune buying it from the local store in pre-wrapped packages. We very much enjoyed our week at Onshore! Thank you!!
I love this property and will continue to come back year after year. I live in the city and this house is so secluded my dog even is on vacation because…NO LEASE (nobody around, YESSSSS) we both love it! Shhh don’t tell anyone about our little secret hidden vacation spot- I’ve made so many memories here and can’t wait to make so many more.
We can’t wait to return! The kids loved exploring the beach area and brought back delicious clams which we all had for dinner. A great spot if you have dogs its very private with nice flat lawn which by the way looks out of the sea. The house is very rustic but the location is worth a million
From a 2014 guest ” We had a wonderful relaxing much needed vacation for all of us at Onshore. The view is spectacular, the beach combing fun, and we all enjoyed walking the area, sometimes visiting the boat launch area and the little park there.”
We stayed from Aug 8 to 15 in 2015. What a beautiful place! We (four of us including two children) and our dog – Leo – had a very relaxing time. Acadia was a little more than an hour drive. LL Bean outlet store was 25 minutes away! Nice grocery stores within 20 minutes of driving. The Coop store in Bluehill (20 mins driving) has awesome baked goods and sandwiches – don’t miss visiting it!
We wish the bed in the main bedroom was more comfortable but otherwise no complaints :)) We will love to stay at this place again.
Our stay was very enjoyable. The location is very private and the whole family loved going out to the water during low tide and exploring. The cabin is very rustic and could use a good spring/deep cleaning. Master bed is small but comfortable. The other beds not so much. I would consider this more of a 1 1/2 bath as the extra shower is very very small. The main bath is large and nice with a washer and dryer. All in all we had a great time. It is a little over an hour from Acadia but we enjoyed exploring some areas that are less traveled on the days we weren’t heading there.
